In one of my previous posts I was concerned about the fate of the tremendously popular Terminator series. I have to say that I was very pleased with this new installment. Christian Bale did use his Batman voice for his John Connor voice, but his performance was pretty powerful. I was very impressed with Sam Worthington's portrayal of Marcus Wright. I believe that he stole the scene from Bale in almost every scene and it makes it all the more incredible that he was an unknown before this film!
This film had incredible special effects and non stop action! The storyline was very solid and any fan of the series will be able to spot out many of the homages to the previous films such as, music from the Guns n Roses featured in T2 with young John Connor, the scar that John Connor gets post Judgment Day and more! I was also impressed with the amount of heart and emotion that this film had that was very much absent from Mostow's T3. Cameron's T2 was the first film that depicted a machine learning the value of human life and Salvation went back to Cameron roots to add this powerful theme back into the formula of the film!
Definitely a great film filled with some great moments and certainly a crowd pleaser for any Terminator fan. Now this series has a completely new direction to go into and I hope the series will continue on in this new and highly entertaining style. The post apocalyptic world that Cameron depicted in the first Terminator is very much alive and incredible in this powerful fourth chapter of the series. Good work McG!
